Mission:         The HCE community will prepare students to be globally diverse, successful and responsible citizens.


Goal 1: Hunters Creek Elementary students will be globally competitive through the mastery of a relevant and rigorous curriculum.

  • 84% of K-5 students participated in World Language opportunities with Spanish and/or Chinese
  • 100% of students had the opportunity to participate in STEM rotations
  • Unofficial results indicate 5th grade Science EOG scores at 91.04% (Career and College Ready) and 94.03% (Grade Level Proficiency)
  • Increase in inclusion opportunities for PreK and Exceptional Children students
  • Three teachers completed Year 1 of Reading Recovery coursework and implementation


Goal 2: Hunters Creek Elementary and students will be led by creative, passionate, and technology skilled professionals.

  • 100% of staff engaged in professional development on Daily 5 and Engineering is Elementary
  • 100% of core teachers participated in a review of Be PLC! and PLC protocols developed for each team
  • 100% of faculty participated in AVID training at the beginning of the school year and had the opportunity to participate in AVID Breakfast trainings during the year
  • Implementation of certified and classified staff member of the month recognition program
  • Utilization of instructional support staff, including DLT staff, Instructional Coach, and Literacy Coach to support students and staff in learning and teaching


Goal 3: Hunters Creek Elementary students will learn in a safe and civil environment to be ethical, healthy, and productive citizens.

  • 100% of students had the opportunity to identify an advocate in the HCE family; students who needed assistance with this where helped as needed
  • 100% of visitors utilized the Ident-a-Kid Visitor Check In System
  • 100% of first responders trained in Epi-Pen procedures to comply with NC Legislation
  • Increase in school wide safety initiatives to include dismissal process, Ident-a-Kid Check in System, Sielox, Epi-Pen training
  • Implementation of a modified PBIS system to address bus behavior incidents/behavior concerns


Goal 4: Leadership will foster innovation in Hunters Creek Elementary in cooperation with families and community partners.

  • 36% of parents participated in the ASSIST Survey for the 2014-15 school year (triple increase over each of the past three years)
  • 100% of families provided with weekly communication through the use of School Messenger and school memos
  • 50% increase in PTO participation
  • School purpose, vision, and mission revised/changed by HCE Strategic Planning Team/Parent Advisory Council
  • School community events held including Christmas Around the World, Global Passport Festival, PTO movie night


Goal 5: Hunters Creek Elementary School will be supported by effective and efficient processes and systems.


  • 100% of staff members participated on school-based committees
  • 100% of PEPs were monitored by administration
  • Approximately 25% of students in grades 2nd-5th participated in in-school tutoring in ELA and /or Math
  • Revamp of car rider dismissal process
  • Administrative meetings held to review information on at-risk students

  • Emphasis on the whole child through academic programs and community outreach programs such as the Backpack program and Angel Tree
